There is a lot planned for the Walt Disney Studios future. We have the Toon Studios opening in less than 6 months, the Tower of Terror taking form and a lot of extra themeing added to give the park a little more Disney magic. But it doesn’t stop there as more rumors are floating around. Several sources are now talking about the Stitch Encounter attraction being placed inside the Studios, more specific in one of the soundstages of the building also housing the Disney Channel. Even with no announcement yet made by Disney about the attraction the rumor seems to get more and more credibility. However, like any rumor, as long as there is no official announcement anything is still possible.
According to those rumors other changes that guest will get to see in the near future will be façades creating a mini boulevard stretching from the Disney Brothers Plaza (right behind Studio 1) all the way to the current Tram Tour Station. Said facades would be placed on both sides of the street, also covering that side of the Art of Animation building, and even going around the corner toward the Production Courtyard, such that the gardens in front of the Tower of Terror would not be immediately visible when exiting Studio 1. A new walkway would cut behind this corner of the facade from Production Courtyard through the current La Terrasse toward the main walkway leading to the Tram Tour Station. Access to the grounds of the Tower would be from this walkway. According to the rumors the mini boulevard would consist of different facades representing buildings from different nations, including an Asian building, but also partially reusing concepts from the Disney Studios park at Walt Disney World. The façades are rumored to go up in two phases. A "classic" rumor that got new life is the relocation the Tram Tour Station. It is now mentioned that the relocation might be done during one of the two phases of the mentioned façade installation.
Another improvement project is to differentiate the courtyards stronger by different colored walkways, which would also help to brighten up some areas. In general Imagineering sees to options for this: either new walkways or just painting the existing concrete. But first painting tests concluded at the entrance to the Animation Courtyard to the right of the film stripe of the parade route (where the Mickey's sorcerer statue pointing to the sorcerer's hat of Art of Animation is to be located) were a failure. The trucks of the cleaning teams overnight rubbed off most of the colors, even so close looking guests are still able to spot some remnants on the ground. In the meantime guests can already enjoy the colored (and textured) ground of the new Oasis at the entrance to the future Toon Studios.
Once the Toon Studios are open the next big thing will be the Tower of Terror. It is said that the Tower will have to be the main draw at the studios for at least 4 years before any other new ride would be added. Even with a Stitch Escape attraction possibility this might mean that the following rumored rides might not be for the near future. Soarin is being mentioned but again we heard that Mickey's PhilharMagic is still on the table. We mentioned this in previous news (and received some heat from fans who didn’t believe this) and have now heard (from another source) the rumor again. Even so, with Disney it is a rumor until any official word has been send out. There is also more room at the Toon Studios location for another possible Dark ride but nothing more is known about this and it is far too early to even speculate about this.
On the other hand there are also some rumors about some attractions maybe going dark ... Latest rumors mention that that the Cyber Space Mountain Roller Coaster rides in the Studios Televison Production Tour might be in jeopardy - but not so much because of a potential arrival of Stitch. Instead it seems these were placed in the park as part of a sponsorship deal with the Disney Channel France. So once that sponsorship ends they might be removed as was mentioned by a source...
